An eqMac alternative with an equalizer for every app

SoundDial is an eqMac alternative for Mac users who want a separate equalizer and volume for each app, sold as a one-time purchase on the Mac App Store.

eqMac is a Mac audio app that many people find when they look for an equalizer. If what you are after is a different sound for each app, not one curve for everything, SoundDial is built around that.

The equalizer in SoundDial

Every app gets its own 10-band EQ: 31, 63, 125, 250 and 500 Hz and 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k and 16k Hz, ±12 dB each. Pick one of 11 presets (Flat, Bass Boost, Bass Cut, Treble Boost, Vocal, Podcast, Loudness, Late Night, Rock, Electronic, Acoustic) or set the bands yourself; changes apply instantly. The same panel has a left/right balance for the app.

Pick SoundDial if

  • You want Spotify, a browser and a call app to sound different at the same time
  • You also want volume, mute and an output device per app, in the menu bar
  • You prefer one payment on the Mac App Store, with no in-app purchases

SoundDial is not the right tool if

  • You want one EQ curve for everything your Mac plays: SoundDial has no system-wide EQ
  • You need surround or multichannel audio: SoundDial does not do that; it is stereo only
